Sports Blog

2025 - 2026

The KPA Sports Crew meet every two weeks. They spend time planning lunchtime activities for everyone in a bid to keep everyone active. The Sports Crew are also in charge of updating the sports blog and help to organise mini-tournaments within school. We will also be updating about any sports events that our school attend. If you have any ideas you would like to put forward to the crew they would be grateful. You can talk to them directly or to Miss Chhibber.

'Being in the Sports Crew means it's my job to make sure everyone keeps fit and healthy.'

'The Sports Crew make sure everyone can be involved.'

'We help to promote sport at KPA.'

Sports Crew - 05.11.25

This lunchtime, Marianka and I created a game for the younger children to do. Two of the children were sleeping bears and the other children had to try to get their treasure without getting caught.

HSSP Tag Rugby Tournament - 04.11.25

Today, we went to a tag rugby tournament at Huntingdon Rugby Club. This event was for year 4, 5 and 6. Unluckily, we didn't come first but we all tried our hardest and were happy with the result!

Today we hosted a friendly game of cross the river at lunchtime. All the children who took part thoroughly enjoyed it. Most of the children enjoy crossing the river as we do a silly version where they have to do silly things, e.g. "Cross the river if you can touch your nose with your tongue!" Also, we enjoyed them having fun and giggling. Since they had fun, they were asking us to do it again. Overall, the most fun that the children had was when it was their time to be a tagger. Willow had some of the most fun and was already asking if we could play it again next time.

We are delighted to announce that we have achieved the Platinum School Games Mark Award for the 2024/25 academic year!

Today Skyla, Aaliyah and Paige did sports crew and hosted a netball activity. We pumped up some netballs with the pump and got the children in line to have their go at shooting the ball and hoop.

This is a picture of some children enjoying playing netball and trying to score the ball in the hoop. They were including each other and letting other people have their go. The children who took apart enjoyed playing it as it was a fun mixup from a group and a new game.

The School Games Mark is a Government led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.

Our sporting achievements this year include taking part in rugby, gymnastics, athletics and dodgeball competitions, sports day, and lots of taster sessions by local sports clubs. We have also been involved in inter-school competitions within the Diamond Learning Partnership Trust.

With a huge percentage of our school competing in local inter-school competitions this year, we are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our competitions possible.

We look forward to maintaining this!

Today in sports crew, we hosted and set up a fun game of netball! The children who wanted to line up and be in our fun game of netball came and threw themselves into our game, and they also laughed, they learned sportsmanship and many key skills of any sport.

We helped the players that felt upset when others achieved what they couldn't. Because of our help, they all managed to do it in the end! We are proud of some of our older players who showed stupendous sportsmanship to some of the younger children. This is our second time hosting netball and certainly not our last, as the younger years keep on telling us that it is the best game that they have played with us. We can't wait to host this again – we have as much fun hosting the game as the children have playing!
