Autumn Term 2026

Ash Class Weekly Update - WB 28.09.26

Another sunny week in Ash Class! In English, we have continued to look at simple clauses and adding adjectives to give more detail. In Maths, we've looked at comparing numbers and ordering them from greatest to smallest. In Science, we went on an adventure around the school to explore things that are living and things that have never been alive. Year 1 and 2 also looked at things that used to be living such as leaves on the floor. In PE, we used dodgeballs to practise aim, using the balls to move cones across a threshold. In Art, KS1 did repeated pattern printed while Reception went outside to take some nature rubbings. To finish the week, we enjoyed looking at shadows and patterns in outdoor learning. We loved our mystery reader today - Libby from Year 3! A big thank you to her for a wonderful story!

Ash Class Weekly Update - WB 21.09.26

This week we've been looking at our new book called 'Leaf'. Reception have enjoyed listening to this story about a lost polar bear while KS1 have used it for inspiration when writing simple clauses. In Maths, Reception joined KS1 to look at 1 more before KS1 continued to look at 1 less and using a number line. In Science, we explored classification and started to think about how we know if an animal is a mammal, bird, reptile, amphibian or fish. In PE, we worked on our team work skills using balls. In Computing, KS1 were taught how to use a laptop keyboard and practised using a touch pad to create drawings. Reception are doing really well with their new sounds and now know g,o,c and k. To finish the day, we all enjoyed some team building activities in outdoor learning.

Weekly Update - WB 14.09.26

We've had another busy week in Ash Class! Reception have learnt and consolidated their first few sounds (s, a, t, p, i, n, m) and have started their first reading books. They have worked on touch counting accurately in Maths. KS1 have looked at verbs and the subject in English, and have continued to explore the composition of numbers up to 20 in Maths. In PE, the children enjoyed rolling and passing balls to each other to practise listening skills alongside gross motor skills. We created pirate treasure maps in Topic and joined in to 'pat-a-cake' with actions in Music. We thought about our existing knowledge around animals in Science and enjoyed making flower crowns during outdoor learning.

Weekly Update - WB 07.09.26

Our first full week has been very busy! Reception have learnt their first four sounds (s, a, t, p) and will continue to practise these in provision. They have also started to learn how to subitise in Maths. KS1 have looked at nouns and verbs in English, and have explored the composition of numbers up to 20 in Maths. In PSHE, we looked at harvest time before the children created drawings to show things they were thankful for. We explored printing in Art and enjoyed singing and dancing along to songs in Music.

Weekly Update - WB 03.09.26

We've had a lovely first two days back in Ash Class! We've enjoyed getting to know our new friends more, decided on some class rules together, and have taken part in lots of busy learning. We've shared our knowledge about oceans and seas as part of our topic work and listened to the '5 Oceans' song. KS1 did our first 'dough gym' to warm up our fingers before Exciting Writing. Year 1 and 2 also enjoyed making fish for our working wall using bubble art!
