This week in Ash class we have been busy writing our own version of The Queen's Knickers. We have been learning that a story has a beginning, middle and end. We have enjoyed sharing our stories with the class. In maths we have been learning to recognise number bonds to 10. Year 1 have been using towers of cubes to find all the different number bonds and have been recording them as addition number sentences. We've also been learning that addition is commutative. In phonics we have been consolidating our learning of phase 2 sounds with reception and phase 5 sounds with year 1. We have been working really hard on segmenting and blending to read words and we have been practising our tricky words: I, no, go, into, the. This week we also enjoyed a music session where we worked in groups to create music for the four seasons. We explored the instruments and the different sounds they made, talking about how they made us feel.
